TERRECO FIN is a natural and eco-friendly clay plaster for finish coat for indoor walls decoration. TERRECO FIN clay plaster gives a very fine texture with natural warm colours. TERRECO FIN clay plaster is a 100 % natural building material made from a mix of clays and sands. No pigments are used. Due to the very special inherent qualities of clay, TERRECO FIN clay plaster provides a cosy atmosphere along with a feeling of well-being. Indeed, clay is a breathing surface that regulates both humidity and temperature. By absorbing moisture it makes rooms more tolerable in humid weather. And when the weather becomes drier it releases moisture into the room helping to improve the air quality. Clay surfaces can also help moderate temperature swings. Wall surfaces remain cool in summer and warm in winter. The more clay used in a room the greater the beneficial effects, and so TERRECO FIN clay plaster works best when it's applied over a thick undercoat of TERRECO BASE clay plaster.
A variety of finishes can be obtained: applying in one coat, sponge floated for a slightly rough surface, or in two coats, burnished for a smooth finish.
TERRECO FIN clay plaster is available in 10 natural clay colours: White, Ivory, Beige, Old Rose, Mastic, Straw, Ochre, Yellow, Red, Cacao.

Application
Surface preparation
Indoor surfaces should be in conformity with the current standards in force. Surfaces must be homogeneously absorbent, sound, clean, dry, non-friable and deprived of salts, moisture and moulds.
TERRECO FIN clay plaster can be applied directly to clay plaster and natural lime plasters.
Irregular and/or rough surfaces must be resurfaced with a base coat of TERRECO BASE clay plaster.
Concrete surfaces, cement, gypsum, old compatible paint (peeling paint and semi-gloss or gloss paints must be sanded or removed or primed with a water-based primer) and all absorbent and/or dusty and/or smooth surfaces should be fixed beforehand using our TERRECO PRIM clay primer. Plasterboards and other types of boards must be primed with a water-based primer before applying TERRECO PRIM clay primer.

Mixing
In an appropriate container, add approx. 7 litres of water. Gradually add the powder from the 25 kg bag of TERRECO FIN clay plaster. Mix thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous and rather solid paste. Adjust the consistency of the paste by adding water where necessary. Leave to rest for 15 minutes and re-mix just before application. This will give a better homogeneity.
Application
Appropriate tools: plastic finishing trowel, sponge float.
Apply 1 or 2 coats of TERRECO FIN clay plaster, 2 to 3mm thick, depending on the finish you want. Do not go beyond 5mm thick per coat.
Slightly rough finish: apply the clay plaster using the plastic finishing trowel about 2 to 3 mm thick. When the plaster begins to harden, level off and bring out the grain using the sponge float by dampening the surface. Avoid excess water.
Smooth finish: before the first sponge floated coat of clay plaster has dried, apply a second coat with the plastic finishing trowel, 1 to 1.5mm thick. When the plaster begins to harden, use the edge of the plastic finishing trowel to smooth the plaster.
Interesting antique or multi-colour effects can be created with natural pigments and our VELATURA glaze over the TERRECO FIN clay plaster surface.
Drying time
24 hrs to 48 hrs depending on the absorbency of the substrate and the ambient humidity.
Coverage
2 kg to 3 kg / m², depending on the surface and the desired end result.
Protection
To protect the surfaces from water and stains: you can waterproof using our TERRECO FIX water repellent (1 or 2 coats) and if you want a shine finish you can wax with our CIRE SOLIDE bees and carnauba wax (1 or 2 coats).
We recommend to apply at least one coat of water repellent before applying the CIRE SOLIDE bees and carnauba wax to ease the application and to avoid marks.
Practical advice
Clean all tools with water immediately after use.
Apply and store at a temperature of +5°C to +30°C (40°F or 85°F).
Do not apply to hot or damp surfaces or those directly exposed to the sun.
Each wall section should be finished the same day. All overlapping should be done in corners or door angles.
Protect the surrounding areas from splashes or clean with water immediately.
Health caution
TERRECO FIN clay plaster is eco and health friendly. However, please take the following precautions: in case of eye contact, rinse thoroughly in water and consult a specialist if any symptoms persist. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage advice
TERRECO FIN clay plaster will keep for one year in its original closed packaging, away from frost and humidity.
Once mixed with water TERRECO FIN clay plaster must be used within several days if it is covered with a thin layer of clean water. It can be remixed by adding water if necessary. However, we recommend that you only prepare the quantity required to avoid variations of color.
Packaging
TERRECO FIN clay plaster is conditioned in recyclable paper bags of 25 kg.
